Discussion Topic for Episode 56 - One Genre for the Rest of Your Life

Picture this, you're living in a world much like the one you're in now, you own and love the third place platform in a three horse race, even though you know in your heart its the best. You love playing games, and are down at your favorite retailer checking out the stacks when suddenly you have a realization. Every game you look at is your favorite genre, but every game is only that genre. What is happening, where is the normal cornucopia of game types you are used to? You've left your normal life, you have entered, The Weekly Topic Zone.

A long, and some would argue hackneyed, way of asking you, if you could only play one genre of games for the rest of your life, what would it be? Only two rules, FPS's are only multiplayer or single player in this world, not both, and while there is never more than one type of game, there is never a shortage of them, if you love a good single player epic, or like racing games, there is always another one ready when you finish the first. I hope this will stir up a bit more discussion then last week's. Hope everyone has a great week, I look forward to your submissions.

Permalink Reply by Steve Sander on June 23, 2009 at 3:57pm: I would have to say that it would have to be open world or sandbox action adventure games, such as inFamous, Red Faction, Prototype, etc. I love multiplayer games but as we all know there are only so many people out there to play and when they lose interest in that game then you have to find a new one. Also how often have you played with some jackass that wants to ruin the whole experience for you by being a douche bag. If the game has a really great story and play mechanics then you can enjoy it time and time again. Also now a days with developers putting in collectables, side missions, mini games,etc., it gives you more to do then just the story.; ▶ Reply to This

My Hell would be a world that only had Cooking Sims - Cooking Mama really pushes that wii hardware. My cousin brought a Cooking Mama game over and I has to watch her play one day. What the Hell!; ▶ Reply to This

NO PSP'S! And I would be the king of this world and Emilio Z would be forced to play nothing but console games like Tiger Woods without motion Plus and he would have to bow down to me and call me MASTER!
