Discussion Topic For Episode 76 - What Should My Brother-In-Law Buy

Hey guys, a good one for this week, and a way to help someone out. My Brother-In-Law Alex has gotten permission to buy a PS3 from my sister, basically she is going to let him save his money from the one day a week that he works for my father on his farm, and use that money for a PS3. Now as we all know, what is the point of getting a system if you have nothing to play on it, and no accessories to make it better?

After he told me about this development I instantly thought of this topic, positing that he is going to have the system and $120 extra to spend, what would you tell him to buy? I will give you a rough time frame, figure he will be able to get the system within the next six weeks, and just so you know he has bought a fair number of the recent multiplatform titles on his 360, including MW2. Your answer can be two games, or downloadable titles, classic, platform exclusives that you don’t think he should miss, or accessories that you think every PS3 owner should have. I will give you one other rule, he will already be getting an HDMI cable, so don’t feel like you have to include that in your list. Get it to us by next Saturday night, and your contributions will go into my summary. Have a great week, hope everyone is able to play some games, and I will see you next Friday for CGN.

Get a $6 HDMI cable from monoprice.com (I know you said he already was getting one, but might as well save some money instead of buying an overpriced retail one), Uncharted 2 for $50 on amazon, MGS4 for $30 anywhere, or if he's an RPG player he should get Demon's Souls for $60.

Since accessories have been touched on all ready, lets choose a couple of PSN titles(Im sure regular games are going to be covered well)

Pixeljunk Eden(a basic yet fun game for 9.99. You also cant go wrong with anything pixeljunk)
Final Fantasy 7(a must have for classic PSN titles provided you are a RPG fan). This game is a true classic.

Seriously though, if he already owns a 360 then I would recommend mostly exclusives, especially as you can get alot very cheap now.

Demon's Souls and Haze. Just so he knows the soul crushing frustration of early PS3 adapters. (In the case of Haze. Obviously Demon's Souls is the greatest game ever created.)
