Discussion Topic for Episode 71 - Your Own Private Arcade Cabinet

This is another Jay D. original topic, and one that I enjoy, because it brings back my own nostalgic gaming past. When I was a kid one of the great treats you could have would be a trip up to our local arcade, Funspot, in Laconia, NH. Watching my Dad pop a five dollar bill into that token machine, and hearing it rattle out a bounty of coin shaped fun was one of the highlights of my young life. Well time went on, better and better console and PC systems at home make going to the arcade less of a destination and more of a curiosity, but no one can take away those memories.

This week we want you to think back to your childhood, and the arcade cabinet that you ran for at your local mall, pizzeria, or similar fun center, and would now most like to see transplanted into your own basement, man cave, or kitchen. I will include a link for my favorite childhood gaming destination Funspot, http://www.funspotnh.com/, where I did my arcade gaming as a kid, if you want tell us where you did your gaming and include a link if there is one. Have a good week everyone, don’t forget the iTunes review contest, and see you Friday for CGN at 8:00 PM EST.

Could it be, first on my very own topic!!!!!!

I am going to have to go with the one that took up the most coins for me. It wasn't the TMNT game or The Simpsons(both honorable mentions). It has to be the first ever NFL Blitz game. I loved the style that game brought to the table. This is the first time I really ran into a good arcade type game. It was bias at all times expected but who didn't enjoy a game without rules. I always had a good laugh taking guys down in the middle of their route.

It is like some sort of internet dream story, from last t first on his own topic. Give us the flavor though, wher were you playing Blitz?

um for me gauntlet darck legacy the arcade version. this game was so long that i never got to finish it and always went back to play from the beginning. if I had it at home i could probably finally finish it.

I was actually playing this when I was 16 back at the local bowling ally. I took on everybody that showed up and I lost just one game. I was even beating the employees there which was great.

I believe I was 8 y/o and that summer the whole family (mom's side) wanted to go to Idaho to vacation for a week. We stayed in the dorms at some college. There was a rec room with billiard tables/table tennis/foosball and one arcade machine, X-Men. It was the four-player version. All of us boys would play it all day, taking turns when someone had died. It was on a continuous play setting. So stoked we didn't have to pay any money but we more than likely would have. So for one week it was continuous X-Men arcade style!

Well if I could have my own private arcade cabinet from my childhood it would probably be the Street Fighter Arcade game. We had one at a local pizza shop that is now gone but I would go there and spend hours on that thing every weekend.

To show my dedication to this topic I am going to go to all three, yes three arcades, we have in my area and play every single game they have. After my research I will have the difinitve game that everyone should have answered with.
