Discussion Topic for Episode 57 - Your Favorite Game Characters and Settings

All right this discussion topic is all fixed up to be another disaster. As you probably heard on the cast this topic got a less than warm reception, but I soldier on, prepared for slings and arrows of community reaction, or lack of slings and arrows. Enough dancing around, here it is, what are your favorite video game characters, and I am going to expand this on the fly, your favorite settings that a video game has taken place in. It can be a top three for each, or a mix of the two, whatever makes you happy. Have a good one, and see you on the network, here is to hoping for a Fallout 3 DLC drops.

And again you HAVE let the community down with yet another stellar topic. But I shall presson by replying to it anyway. Over the years there have been many characters that have come and gone in my lifetime starting with the NES and now to the PS3. There are some that stand out in my mind and others that I couldn't tell you what game they came from. The three that stick out in my mind as being my favorites would probably be Mario, because lets face it he started me on my path to gaming. Next would be Sonic the Hedgehog, the style of game play that was created for him was something that pushed the developers back then though to todays standards isn't as pinnicle. And lastly something from a more recent series would have to be (yes Joker) Solid Snake. Though I joke about him I still can't discredit the fact that EVERY game in the Solid Snake Series has been most enjoyable.

All jokes either in post or in podcast that are directed at Joker are done for fun and I hope that you are not offended by it sir.

His name is Michael Weston. He use to be a spy. That is, until be got burned. When you're burned, you've got nothing - no cash, no credit, no job history. You're stuck in whatever city they decide to dump you in. You do whatever work comes your way. You rely on anyone who's still talking to you: A trigger-happy ex-girlfriend, an old friend who’s informing on you to the FBI. Family too, if you're desperate. Bottom line? Until he figures out who burned him, he's not going anywhere.

I'd have to say, Jackie Estacado from, "The Darkness". and Nathan Drake from, "Uncharted".
Price of Persia is my favorite game setting to be in. Although I'd have to say Oblivion is great too. Don't forget I'm back to gaming after a long absence. I just got my PS3 in January.

Kevin I think your being a recent rejoiner of the video gaming community really hurts you a lot less with this topic then with others. If anything I think video games have not been able to do deep and interesting characters until very recently. Even now I think that some games have their ability to make a compelling character hamstrung by their nature, in short a video game has to be a game first. There will be more of this discussion to follow on the podcast. Thanks to everyone for your contributions so far.

I've been bribed to come here and say that Eric does indeed need more air time. So.. there you go.

"i've been bribed?" it's that kind of crap, why you people shouldn't be allowed to vote.
